Holy Vessels wrote in this blog post from 2012 that "Queen of Alimony" had been remixed by "a few very talented friends from some awesome other bands." Of course Kyle is talented!! (Also mentioned in this post.) Holy Vessels went on the River Rat Pack Tour in 2011 with Bastille, so the two bands were certainly familiar with each other. Lookbak's account currently only has one track on it: a remix of the song "Queen of Alimony" by the band Holy Vessels. Lookbak and Ambius both have Soundcloud profiles that I initially found by looking at what accounts Tyde was following on Soundcloud. ( This website says that Lookbak is one of Nick's aliases, but I'm not sure about the credibility of this site.) Ambius is Nick Mills, as confirmed by his own YouTube channel, which of course leads us to believe that Lookbak must be Kyle. From this old snapshot of their Twitter account (circa 2014), we can see that Tyde is the combination of two producers: Lookbak and Ambius. By this time, Bastille had been a band for almost two years, having formed in 2010.
Tyde is made up of Kyle Simmons and Nick Mills, and was formed in 2012. Also, to clarify, the title of the post doesn't mean looking back on them like they no longer exist or something, I was trying to make a pun lmao) (Edit: lol when you have to approve your own post because it has too many links.
I'm sure we can all agree that he is an incredibly talented guy and 100% deserves his success. As we saw in the ReOrchestrated documentary, Kyle opened up about his insecurities towards his musicianship and skills. I've been sitting on this post for over two months now, so I'm glad to finally get it out there. Been a while since I posted one of these! Today we're going to be taking a look back at Kyle Simmons' music career outside of Bastille, including Tyde and his ventures before joining the band.
